India's Hottest Hatch Polo GTI Unveiled at Auto Expo 2016

New Delhi, 4th February 2016: Volkswagen India unveiled the hottest hatch in India - the Polo GTI at the 13th Delhi Auto Expo in Greater Noida. The 3-door version of the Polo GTI will be launched in September 2016.

The Polo GTI is powered by a 1.8-litre TSI petrol engine mated to a 7-speed DSG gearbox which produces a blistering 189 bhp (192 PS) of raw power. These mind-blowing figures makes the Polo GTI the hottest hatch in India today taking the crown away from the Abarth Punto which is powered by a 1.4-litre T-Jet petrol engine which produces 145 bhp of max power.

The Polo GTI comes fitted with ABS, ESP & Hill-hold functions and airbags as standard features.

A 189 bhp engine under a light-weight hatch creates a deadly combination of power-to-weight ratio and would be the most exciting and affordable true blue racing machine in India.

Volkswagen has given a mouth watering offering to the petrolheads in India which they can hardly ignore. FCA made the first move back in 2015 by launching the Abarth version of Punto Evo which was a real treat to driving enthusiasts. In comparison, the Polo GTI is 44 bhp (almost 30%) more powerful than the Abarth Punto.

Fiat and Volkswagen has created a truly exciting segment for petrolheads in India giving many of them an opportunity to own a mean machine without burning a big hole in the pockets.

It would be apt to say that automobile manufacturers have realized the changing taste and purchasing power of young Indians from cheap vehicles to high-value or premium vehicles in recent years.
